Description

In the first letter of the James Thornton Correspondence collection, Dr. H.B. Wilbur writes to Dr. R.H. Gray. As the Superintendent of the New York Asylum for Idiots in Syracuse, Wilbur tells Gray that the little boy (James Thornton) that Gray referred to the asylum is doing well and “will make a very good pupil”. Wilbur also asks for the name and address of the boy’s mother so that he may write to her as well.
