Title

An Open Letter to the Faculty of the School of Education

Description

Dr. Johnson, referring to the Kerner Report and the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr., expressed his concern about the way that the faculty of the Syracuse University School of Education addressed racism. He called out the School of Education for having so few Black students, the faculty for sending student teachers into student teaching in Syracuse without coursework related to Black identity or history. He wanted the school to address institutional racism in the School of Education and each faculty member’s invisible implicit biases.
